Two 2nd places for our athletes in Park City

During the last night in the United States-Park City, was Nations Cup, the battle for places for fourth Viessmann World Cup in luge.


Latvia started with four men - Martin Rubenis, Kristaps Mauriņš, Inars Kivlenieks and Artūrs Dārznieks.
Among 42 Athletes, fastest Latvian was Martins Rubenis, his run was 45,585 seconds fast and Mārtiņš won 8th and qualified for 5th World Cup.
The second best of ours was Inārs Kivlenieks. With time 45,599 seconds, he ranked in 10th position and also won the right to participate in the world cup.
Artūrs Dārznieks identifying time 46.216 seconds remained in 20th place, but Kristaps Mauriņš crossing the finish line after 46.400 seconds took 24th place.
Since Eliza have fallen out of the strongest group of athletes, our ladies team for nations cup has been expanding, together with Ulla Zirne she had to fight for a place in the World Cup competition.


Among 32 competitors, our ladies kept dashingly. Eliza Tīruma with the time 43.888 seconds proved to be the strongest group of athletes worthy, because she yielded only to athlete from Canada, her time was 43.845 seconds only 0.043 seconds faster. Also Ulla Zirne showed excellent performance and crossing the finish line after 44,143 seconds, won the 9th place. Thus, for 5th Viessmann Worl Cup event is qualified our both Latvian luge sliders.


In Nations Cup for doubles, Latvia participated only with one team - Oskars Gudramovičs / Pēteris Kalniņš. Andra Šics / Juris Šics place in World Cup provided already before, having enough pionts to be in the strongest group of athletes.
Among 16 doubles, our duo yielded only to the German double D. Rothamel / T Förtsch and with the 2nd place our boys won the right to participate in the 5th World Cup.
